Death Cab for Cutie - I Will Follow You into the Dark
Death Cab for Cutie is an American band formed in Bellingham, Washington in 1997. The band takes its name from a satirical song, of the same name, performed by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band on their 1967 album Gorilla and in the Beatles experimental movie, Magical Mystery Tour.

Jacques Dutronc - Mini Mini Mini
The miniskirt (often hyphenated as mini-skirt) is a skirt with a hemline well above the knees (generally 20 cm - about 8 inches - or more above knee level). Another way to tell whether a skirt is in fact a mini is to check if the wearer can reach past the hemline of the skirt with her ring and index finger while standing straight; if she cannot, it is not a mini. The mini was the defining fashion symbol of "swinging" London in the 1960s.

The Cat Came Back (Actual Cartoon)
"And the cat came back" (also known as "The cat came back") is a popular children's song, written by Harry S. Miller, in 1893. The story is a comedy, telling a silly tale about a man who had a cat that he didn't want, and when he tried to get rid of the cat, the cat kept coming back. It was also used as the basis for the 1988 short animated film The Cat Came Back by Cordell Barker.

Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit
"Strange Fruit" began as a poem about the lynching of a black man written by a radical Jewish schoolteacher from the Bronx Abel Meeropol, who used the pen name Lewis Allan (the names of his two children, who died in infancy). "Strange Fruit" was written as a poem expressing his horror at the lynchings, and was first published in 1937 in The New York Teacher, a union magazine. Though Meeropol/Allan often asked others (notably Earl Robinson) to set his poems to music he set Strange Fruit to music himself and the song gained a certain success as a protest song in and around New York. Before Holiday was introduced to the song, it had been performed by Meeropol, by his wife, and by a black vocalist called Laura Duncan, who performed it at Madison Square Garden.

XTC - Making Plans for Nigel
First coming together in 1972, the core duo of Andy Partridge (guitars & vocals) and Colin Moulding (bass & vocals) went through many band names (including The Helium Kidz and Star Park) over the next five years. As the Helium Kidz, they featured in a small NME article as an up-and-coming band from Swindon. Drawing influence from the New York Dolls and the emerging New York punk scene, they played glam rock with homemade costumes and slowly built up a following. Drummer Terry Chambers joined in 1973. Keyboard player Barry Andrews followed in 1976, and the band finally settled on a name: XTC. By this time, the punk rock movement was in full swing, and XTC had found their style, a unique brand of hyperactive pop mixed with funk, punk, ska, reggae, and art rock.

Code Monkey (A Clockwork Orange) - PG-rated
The Jargon File defines a code monkey as:
1. A person only capable of grinding out code, but unable to perform the higher-primate tasks of software architecture, analysis, and design. Mildly insulting. Often applied to the most junior people on a programming team.
2. Anyone who writes code for a living; a programmer.
3. A self-deprecating way of denying responsibility for a management decision, or of complaining about having to live with such decisions. As in “Don't ask me why we need to write a compiler in COBOL, I'm just a code monkey.”
The term can also apply to amateur computer programmers who stitch together snippets of code found on the internet and in books to make an application, without having an appreciation or understanding what the principles behind the code or the concept of coding are.

CSS - Alala
Cansei de Ser Sexy (Portuguese for I'm Tired of Being Sexy), also known as CSS, is a Brazilian band from São Paulo, where they benefited from unprecedent levels of hype on local newspapers and TV channels. The group mixes influences of Electro-Rock and other kinds of art, like design, cinema and fashion, putting the blend in humorous lyrics in English and Portuguese. The band is notorious for their emphasis on style, fashion and coolness (for 'coolness', see 'NME appeal' and ego), rather than musical ambitions. Their broken English compositions are sung with a strong Brazilian accent, which the fans say just adds a special appeal to the band.

Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight Tonight
The Smashing Pumpkins' distinctive sound up until Adore consisted of layering numerous guitar tracks onto a song during the recording process, a tactic which Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness coproducer Flood dubbed the "Pumpkin guitar overdub army". There were a few overdubbed parts on Gish but Corgan began to really explore the possibilities of overdubbing with Siamese Dream; Corgan has stated that "Soma" alone contains up to 40 overdubbed guitar parts.

Breaking Benjamin - So Cold
* The name "Breaking Benjamin" comes from lead vocalist Benjamin Burnley's early solo experience. Burnley was covering a Nirvana song during an open-mic night at a club when he dropped the microphone to the ground, breaking it. The person who owned the mic came onstage and said, 'Thanks to Benjamin for Breaking my fucking mic.'
* According to the band, the Breaking Benjamin logo, a celtic knot, was found in a tattoo book.
* During live shows, the band has been known to frequently cover Nirvana, Tool, Depeche Mode, and on more recent tours Deftones, and Nine Inch Nails songs.
* The first single from the band's sophomore release We Are Not Alone, "So Cold", spent 37 weeks in the top 20 of the Billboard charts (as of February 3, 2005).
* Aaron Fink pointed out that his father joined the band on tour, and that his father's music collection is what originally sparked his interest in music. Gary Fincke is a professor at Susquehanna University and wrote Amp'd: A Father's Backstage Pass about his travels with the band.
* The band created an original cut for the immensely popular video game Halo 2 entitled "Blow Me Away", which can be heard on the So Cold EP & the Halo 2, Vol. 1 Soundtrack.
* Their new album Phobia is based on Ben's personal phobia of travel by plane and his slight social phobia. Guitarist Aaron Fink stated in an interview that they sent a hypnotist to Ben's house to rid him of his phobia. No positive results were reported. [citation needed]
* Breaking Benjamin contributed a cover of Queen's "Who Wants to Live Forever" to Killer Queen: A Tribute to Queen.

Monty Burns - See My Vest
Burns: Some men hunt for sport.
Others hunt for food.
The only thing I'm hunting for
Is an outfit that looks good.
[Smithers turns on a spotlight]
Burns: See...my...vest!
See my vest!
Made from real gorilla chest!
Feel this sweater,
There's no better
Than authentic Irish setter!
See this hat?
'Twas my cat!
My evening wear? Vampire bat!
These white slippers are albino
African endangered rhino!
Grizzly bear underwear!
Turtles' necks, I've got my share!
Beret of poodle on my noodle it shall rest!
Try my red robin suit!
It comes on breast or two!
See my vest! See my vest! See my vest!
[Burns begins a one man kickline.]
Burns: Like my loafers?
Former gophers!
It was that, or skin, my chauferres,
But a greyhound fur tuxedo would be best!
So let's prepare these dogs!
[The nanny from 101 Dalmations appears]
Nanny: Kill two for matching clogs!
Burns: See my vest! See my vest!
Oh, please, won't you see...my...vest!
[end of song]
Burns: I really like the vest.
Smithers: I gathered, yeah.

Stone Sout - Get Inside
Get Inside was the first video released by the American Alternative Metal band Stone Sour. It was released in 2002, almost a decade after the band was first created.
Unlike the following single, Bother, the vocals for this song, by Taylor, are very similar to those he uses for Slipknot. On several occasions through the song, Taylor uses a type of growl and the verses of the songs are done in a nu-metal type style. The chorus comprises of Taylor screaming 'Get Inside' repeatedly.

Stone Sour - 30/30-150
Stone Sour (named after an alcoholic-drink consisting of one part whisky, a splash of orange juice and sour mix) was originally formed in 1992 by Corey Taylor and drummer Joel Ekman. Taylor's long time friend, Shawn Economaki, joined shortly after, and filled in as the bass player. The band had played clubs and bars with various different guitarists - often filling the position for just one show. During this time, Stone Sour recorded two demo tapes, in 1992 and 1994. Shortly after in 1995, James Root - who would later join Taylor in Slipknot - joined the band. The group was complete, and in 1996 recorded another demo tape, and songs from which would later be used in 2002 on their self titled debut album, Stone Sour.
In 1997 the band disbanded when Taylor left to join Slipknot, who were another up-and-coming act in Des Moines at the time who were to soon earn a record deal. Root also joined the band a year later, and Economaki went on to become their stage manager.

"30/30-150" is the second single from the rock band Stone Sour's sophomore album from 2006 Come What(ever) May. The song received a nomination for Best Metal Performance at the 49th annual Grammy Awards.[1]
The video shows the band members individually in high-contrast black and white superimposed over a timer counting down from "3030.150" and occasionally large close-ups of Corey Taylor's mouth. According to Taylor, the song is about always remembering who you are, where you came from and to never give in to pressures.
The title may refer to a .30-30 Winchester cartridge with a 150-grain bullet.

The Clash - Rock The Casbah
"Rock the Casbah", one of the most popular songs by The Clash, was released on their 1982 album Combat Rock. It is one of their few songs to become a Top 10 hit in the United States, reaching #8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song was inspired by the banning of rock music in Iran under Ayatollah Khomeini. The song gives a fictitious account of the ban being defied by the population who proceed to "rock the casbah", causing the King to order jet fighters to bomb any people in violation of the ban. The pilots ignore the orders, and instead play rock music on their cockpit radios.

Faithless - God Is A DJ
The three principal members of Faithless are Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss and Rollo. Jazz acts as a vocalist mostly rapping and elevates the euphoric, ambient music to a spiritual and socio-political level with many of his lyrics; Bliss, as arguably the most popular female DJ not to mention her talents in playing the piano, violin, saxophone and bass, constructs most of the music while Rollo heads and produces the band's genre-defying sound. Lead female vocals for many of their songs are peformed by Pauline Taylor, who also peformed lead vocals for singles Rollo released under his monikers Rollo Goes Mystic and Rollo Goes Spiritual.

Eric Idle - Fuck the FCC
The FCC Song is a deliberately controversial and explicit song by British-born Monty Python comic Eric Idle. Idle, who later became a resident of the U.S. state of California, recorded the song in early 2004 in reaction to a fine by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for saying "fuck" on a Clear Channel radio station. The song is also known by its refrain "fuck you very much". Despite being aimed at the FCC, the lyrics primarily target well-known figures associated with the George W. Bush administration. Idle stated about the song that
"...it's dedicated to the FCC and if they broadcast it, it will cost a quarter of a million dollars".

"...it's dedicated to the FCC and if they broadcast it, it will cost a quarter of a million dollars".
Marilyn Manson - mOBSCENE
In December 1996, a press conference was called by William J. Bennett, Senator Joseph Lieberman, and activist C. DeLores Tucker, aimed at MCA, the owner of Interscope Records. Calling several albums released by the label — including Antichrist Superstar — "profane", "violent", "filth", and "crap",[20] the group questioned MCA president Edgar Bronfman, Jr.'s ability to head the label competently while profiting from such material. That November 6, U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management and Restructuring held a public hearing on the effect of violent rock and rap lyrics on youths. Supporters of the band claim it was merely another salvo in Senator Lieberman's declared war on the band. The hearing, chaired by Representative Sam Brownback, featured the testimony of Lieberman and Tucker, and of Raymond Kuntz, of Burlington, North Dakota, who blamed his son's suicide on Antichrist Superstar, which Lieberman denounced as "vile, hateful, nihilistic and damaging"

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Joy Division were an English rock band formed in 1976 in Salford, Greater Manchester. The band dissolved in May 1980 after the suicide of its lead singer, Ian Curtis. The remaining members reformed as New Order and they have gone on to achieve much critical and commercial success.
With their dark, cavernous sound and their use of synthesizers and electronics, Joy Division is considered the pioneering band of the post-punk movement of the late 1970s and the early 1980s. Though they found only modest success during their career, and released only two studio albums, Joy Division have since been acclaimed as one of the most inventive, evocative and influential groups of their era; Thom Jurek writes "They left just a small bit of music and an echo that still rings"

Massive Attack - Angel (Atomic bomb movie)
During the first Gulf War, several British media channels became anxious to avoid using words suggestive of war and violence, and Massive Attack (then struggling to become established) were forced to temporarily change their name to simply Massive. Del Naja makes no secret in interviews of his political objections to what he sees as U.S. aggression against the Third World in the name of democracy, often expressing regret that he ever agreed to the name change.

The Chemical Brothers - Galvanize
The Chemical Brothers are an electronic music duo from England, comprising Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons (occasionally referred to as Chemical Ed and Chemical Tom). Initially they called themselves "The Dust Brothers", after the noted US production duo of the same name, but their burgeoning popularity and the threat of legal action from the originals led them to change their name in 1995. Along with The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, The Crystal Method and a few other lesser-known acts they were pioneers of the big beat electronic dance genre, and are known for high-quality live sets. They met at the University of Manchester.
