Morphine - Honey White

Morphine was an alternative rock group formed by Mark Sandman and Dana Colley in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, in 1989.
Critically-acclaimed for their innovative music and unique instrumentation, Morphine combined blues and jazz elements with more traditional rock arrangements, giving the band a very unusual sound. Sandman's distinctive singing was described as a "deep, laid-back croon"[1], and his songwriting featured a prominent beatnik influence.
When asked by reporters to describe their music, Sandman labeled it "Low Rock". One critical appraisal suggests that "Morphine immediately established a minimalist, low-end sound that could have easily become a gimmick: a 'power trio' not built around the sound of an electric guitar. Instead, with sly intelligence, Morphine expanded its offbeat vocabulary on each album."

C&C Music Factory - Things That Make You Go Hmmmm

The stylish visuals and production for C+C Music Factory's first videos helped to distinguish the group's first releases from previous mainstream dance hits like Technotronic's "Pump Up The Jam". Controversy erupted when vocalist Zelma Davis appeared instead of vocalist Martha Wash in the video for the group's first single, "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)." Davis, the vocalist (aside from rapper Freedom Williams) on the next three singles, lip-synched to Wash's vocals in that video. Speculation about bad blood between Wash and the group were laid to rest when Wash and Davis both appeared in the video for 1994's Hot Dance Music/Club Play #1 single, "Do You Wanna Get Funky", on which they both share lead vocals.

A fictionalised version of Klaus Nomi appears in a two-part episode of animated comedy/adventure series The Venture Bros. In "Showdown at Cremation Creek (Part I)," he appears as one of David Bowie's bodyguard henchmen (alongside an animated Iggy Pop, another Bowie collaborator). "Klaus" attacks his opponents with ultra-high-pitched singing and the over-sized bowtie of his famous costume, spun and ejected as a battering weapon.

Lucious Jackson - Here

Between 1993 and 2000 they released one EP, three full length LP's and ten singles on the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal record label. Their biggest hit —and only Billboard Top 40 entry— is "Naked Eye" (#36, March 22, 1997). Other notable singles include "Here", "CitySong (NY State Of The World)", "Under Your Skin" and "Ladyfingers".
Vivian Trimble left the group in 1998, and in 2000 (after releasing one album as a trio) the group officially announced the break up of Luscious Jackson.
Early 2007 will see the release of a Luscious Jackson "greatest hits" compilation, and in the Fall of 2006 the band announced that they have reunited and are to begin work on a new album.

Ten Masked Men - Blue

Ten Masked Men are a British Death Metal covers band who specialize in 'destroying' pop classics. The band was formed in 1996 when The Mauler and The Chef did a cover of Oasis' "Wonderwall" as a joke. It was recorded on a 4-track in a bedroom and was soon followed by "Stayin' Alive", "Into the Groove" and "Beat It". These simple recordings were played to friends and in some clubs and became increasingly popular. There was still no band name at that time but all would change when overhearing a news broadcast about masked terrorists. The masked appearance fitted in well with the idea of doing a covers band and so the name Ten Masked Men was created. In 1999 the first CD, Ten Masked Men was recorded and was given out free in their local club. It was evident that the music was becoming notorious and so the CD started circulating in top London clubs.

Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music....

Wild Cherry was a hard rock band. They had a regular gig at the 2001 Club, and with Disco big at the time, their sound didn't go over well. After one show, a black audience member shouted, "Play some funky music, white boy." Lead singer Robert Parissi decided they should, and wrote down the phrase on a bar order pad. They recorded it in Cleveland with a Disco sound - drum and bass mixed way up front. The band was concerned about the lyrics, but Parissi insisted on keeping them. This was going to be the B-side of Wild Cherry's cover of the Commodores' "I Feel Sanctified." When they heard it, the owners of their record label suggested that the B-side become the A-side. The song sold over 2 million copies,

John Cale (Velvet Underground) - Venus In Furs

Although never commercially successful during their time, The Velvet Underground remains an influential rock band; a famous remark, often attributed to Brian Eno, is that while only a few thousand people bought a Velvet Underground record upon their initial release, almost every single one of them was inspired to start a band.

Leningrad Cowboys/Red ArmyChoir - Sweet Home Alabama

The Leningrad Cowboys is a Finnish rock and roll band famous for its humorous songs and concerts featuring the Soviet Red Army Choir.

The band were the invention of Finnish film director Aki Kaurismäki, a fictional band in his 1989 film Leningrad Cowboys Go America. However, for the fictional band he used members of a real Finnish band, the Sleepy Sleepers plus a few others, and in the film they are joined by Nicky Tesco, former lead member of UK Punk rock band, The Members. However, following the film, the band then took on a life of its own, appearing in their own right in recordings, videos and concerts. The band appeared in two other Aki Kaurismäki films, the Leningrad Cowboys Meet Moses (1994) and the Total Balalaika Show) (1994), the film of a joint concert, held in Helsinki in June 1993, between the band and the full 160-member Red Army Choir. Kaurismäki also wrote and directed two videos featuring the band, their cover of the 60's folk standard Those Were The Days (1992) and Thru The Wire (also featuring Tesco) (1992).

QUEEN & Bowie - Under Pressure

The song evolved from a jam session the band had with Bowie at its studio in Montreux, Switzerland, therefore it was credited as co-written by the five musicians. According to Queen bassist John Deacon (as quoted in a French magazine in 1984), however, the song's primary musical songwriter was Freddie Mercury — though all contributed to the arrangement. An earlier, embryonic version of the song without Bowie called "Feel Like" is widely available in bootleg form.

Leon - The Professional

Afraid I have no idea who the music actually....
Léon (Jean Reno) is a lonely and emotionally detached hitman. He lives a solitary life and spends his time watching musicals in between training and taking assassin jobs for Italian mobster Tony (Danny Aiello). Léon is seen in a cinema, watching a musical with faint amazement at the joie de vivre depicted by the film's characters, something he himself is unable to express. He meets Mathilda (Natalie Portman), a twelve-year-old girl who lives with an abusive family in the same apartment building. After corrupt DEA agents, headed by agent Norman Stansfield (Gary Oldman), kill Mathilda's family, Léon saves Mathilda by grudgingly opening his apartment door to let her in with her groceries.
Seriously if you aint seen teh movie, go see it NOW

Hard Fi - Cash Machine

HARD-Fi's debut album Stars of CCTV was initially recorded as a nine track mini-album in a disused mini cab office; it was then mixed in a variety of unusual acoustic environments - in bedrooms, in pubs, and in their producer, Wolsey White's, BMW. 1000 copies of this record were pressed with only 500 going on public sale. It quickly sold, receiving critical acclaim and radio play.

Kasabian - Shoot The Runner

Kasabian are an English rock band from Blaby, near Leicester, formed by Tom Meighan (vocals), Sergio Pizzorno (guitar and vocals), Chris Edwards (bass) and Chris Karloff (guitar and keyboards), who met while attending Leysland High School and Countesthorpe Community College. DLK - ishockeyfrisyr

De lyckliga kompisarna (often called just DLK) was a punk band from Sweden. The band was formed in 1989 and are probably best known for their song "Hockeyfrilla" (Swedish for "mullet"). They even made a music video for it.

The band was headed by Mart Hällgren who both wrote songs, sang and played several instruments. DLK split up after two farewll gigs at Kafé 44 in Stockholm, Sweden. These gigs were recorded and compiled into a live album. After DLK, Mart Hällgren began a solo career as "Mart" (he had previously played solo in the band Total Egon), but later startade the band UBBA.

Amy Winehouse - You Know Im No Good

Trivia

* Winehouse has a number of "old skool" tattoos of naked women about her person. When asked about them, she was quoted as saying “I like pin-up girls. I’m more of a boy than a girl. I’m not a lesbian, though — not before a sambuca anyway.”[25]
* Winehouse's favourite cocktail is a Rickstasy (three parts vodka, one part Southern Comfort, one part banana liqueur, and one part Baileys). “By the time you’ve had two of them you’re like, don’t even try and go anywhere. Sit down and stay down, until the birds start singing.”[22]
* She was friends with Matt Willis and, for a brief time Billie Piper whilst at the Sylvia Young Theatre School.[3]
* In November 2006 Winehouse was featured in NME Magazine's annual Cool list for the first time, reaching Number 50.
* She also made an appearance on the third series of The Fast Show, appearing in a school play sketch featuring Simon Day in his "Competitive Dad" guise — which seemed to be in jest "considering the nature of the show."
* On January 10th Amy sang for BBC Radio 1 Show The Live Lounge. During the session, Amy sung her new single "You Know I'm No Good", and covered the Zutons song "Valerie".

REM - "It's the End of the World"

Trivia

* The band members picked the name R.E.M. out of the dictionary. They liked the name because it was so ambiguous and was easy to write on posters and put on buttons.[8] They started out as Twisted Kites for the first show they played at a party, but, according to It crawled from the South, they considered Negro Eyes, Slut Bank, and Cans of Piss before settling for R.E.M.
* According to one boxed set of their albums, R.E.M. stands for Rapid Ear Movement, a play on Rapid Eye Movement.
* In 1982, R.E.M. was the first band to play Chicago's Metro.
* In 2001, R.E.M appeared in an episode of The Simpsons called "Homer the Moe", as themselves.
* R.E.M. re-wrote "Shiny Happy People" for their guest appearance in Sesame Street. It was re-named "Furry Happy Monsters" and features Buck, Mills and Stipe playing amid a group of Muppets.
* Disappointed with the results of his lip-synching in the band's first video, "Wolves, Lower", Michael Stipe vowed never to lip-synch in a video again. He performed vocals live for all of R.E.M.'s videos until 1991's "Losing My Religion". He changed his mind after watching Sinéad O'Connor video for "Nothing Compares 2 U". Stipe has lip-synched in the video for the lead single from each album since.
* When Rolling Stone named R.E.M. "America's Best Band" in November 1987, drummer Bill Berry said, "We're not the best rock 'n' roll band in America." Pylon, he said, was the best.
* In 1996, the entire band excluding Mike Mills cowrote "Slapstick Heart" for Sam Phillips' album Omnipop (It's Only A Flesh Wound Lambchop).
* In response to R.E.M.'s release of Green, Chicago-based band Green released a CD entitled R.E.M.
* R.E.M.'s album Green was referenced in the episode 'Animals R Us' of the TV show Northern Exposure. (Maggie O'Connell's late boyfriend is said to have been accustomed to listening to the album and singing along with it after dinner each night.)

The Grid - Swamp Thing

The Grids 1994 single "Swamp Thing", which featured elaborate banjo lines (played by Roger Dinsdale) over house beats was widely popular in the UK and Australia, reaching number forty-four on the 1994 Triple J Hottest 100. The Grid's 1994 album Evolver, which contained the "Swamp Thing" single, reached number fourteen in the UK charts. "Swamp Thing" was also released in 1995 on Triple J's Hottest 100 Volume 2 compilation. Other songs by The Grid include Texas Cowboys, Rollercoaster and Flotation.

After splitting up to pursue individual music interests in 1996, the duo re-formed in 2003. By 2006 the pair were reportedly to have been recording new studio tracks. In early 2006 the band began touring under the name GDM with female singer Misty Woods.

CRACKERJACK JUNCTION sings THE EWOK CELEBRATION SONG

Ewok Celebration (also known as Yub Nub from its incipit, which means 'freedom' in Ewokese) is a musical theme recurring in the ending of the Return of the Jedi. It was composed by John Williams.
It is the song sung during the celebration of the Ewoks on Endor with the Rebel Alliance pilots after the destruction of the Death Star II.
The song's lyrics are in the language of the Ewoks.
In the 1997 edition of the movie (see List of changes in Star Wars re-releases), a different song (Victory Celebration) without lyrics replaces the original version. Like several other changes in the original movies made for the new editions, some fans of the films were somewhat upset with the absence of the song. It does not even appear on newer soundtracks, availible only in an obscure box set.
The song appears in an episode of the sitcom Spaced; the producers could not acquire the rights to use the original recording, so Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg performed and recorded their own version.
The song has been covered by the rock band The Solids.
It was used as the name entry music for the Return of the Jedi arcade game released in 1984.

Lakuna - Lemongrass

Lakuna was an electronic instrumental project begun by drummer David Narcizo after Throwing Muses first split up following their 1996 Limbo album. Lakuna first released a 12-inch called So Happy and then a 1999 full-length album called Castle of Crime. Narcizo provided drums, drum programming, and keyboards on all the tracks.

Buffy - It Must Be Bunnies!

Trivia
* Although he is never named in dialog or lyrics, the demonic villain of this episode is called Sweet per the episode's closing credits and the shooting script.

* Many fans believe that the demon is called Sweet because of the closing credits, but it was intended to mean "Really Cool" make up by..., but the name stuck.

* Buffy's line, "Dawn's in trouble. Must be Tuesday", is a reference to UPN, who aired Buffy on Tuesday nights. Buffy also aired on Tuesday nights on the WB for the majority of its run.

* Xander's line, "Respect the cruller. And tame the donut!" is a reference to a line from the film Magnolia.

* Spike's line, "Finish the big group sing. Get your kumbaya-yas out," is a reference to both the song "Kumbaya" and to the Rolling Stones album Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! The Rolling Stones in Concert.

* The scene featuring Amber Benson's musical number, "Under Your Spell", featured heavily-implied sex between two females, and was edited out during the episode's first broadcast in conservative countries like the Philippines and China.

* Action figures of Buffy Summers, Anya Jenkins, and Dawn Summers were produced, based on this episode.

* In a press interview Amber Benson admitted to dancing into a pole during the backup dance at the Bronze. The viewer can see her laughing as she steps back (this occurs during the lyric "and every single verse / can make it that much worse" within "Something to Sing About").
