Massive Attack - Angel (Atomic bomb movie)
During the first Gulf War, several British media channels became anxious to avoid using words suggestive of war and violence, and Massive Attack (then struggling to become established) were forced to temporarily change their name to simply Massive. Del Naja makes no secret in interviews of his political objections to what he sees as U.S. aggression against the Third World in the name of democracy, often expressing regret that he ever agreed to the name change.

The Chemical Brothers are an electronic music duo from England, comprising Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons (occasionally referred to as Chemical Ed and Chemical Tom). Initially they called themselves "The Dust Brothers", after the noted US production duo of the same name, but their burgeoning popularity and the threat of legal action from the originals led them to change their name in 1995. Along with The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, The Crystal Method and a few other lesser-known acts they were pioneers of the big beat electronic dance genre, and are known for high-quality live sets. They met at the University of Manchester.

Red Dwarf is a British science fiction sitcom that ran for eight series, from 1988 to 1999. It was created and originally written by Grant Naylor (a so-called 'gestalt entity', in reality a collective pseudonym for the writing duo Rob Grant and Doug Naylor), and originated from a recurring sketch, Dave Hollins: Space Cadet, in 1980s BBC radio comedy show Son Of Cliché, also scripted by Grant and Naylor.

Lords of Acid - I Sit On Acid
Lords of Acid is a Belgian acid house band from the 1990s that started as a spinoff of Praga Khan with the controversial New Beat single I Sit On Acid in 1988. Their debut album, 1990's Lust (along with the remix singles Rough Sex and I Must Increase My Bust) became famous within the electronic music and dance music communities for their outrageously sexual lyrics and sound samples - perhaps their most popular song, I Sit on Acid, begins with the a capella lyrics "Darling, come here / fuck me up the ..." only to be interrupted with a grinding rave beat.

The Beta Band were a British musical group who received much critical acclaim and achieved cult status, but failed to make much of a commercial impact on the popular music scene. Their style was self-described as being folk hop, a blend of folk, rock, trip hop, and experimental jamming.

Carter USM - Sherif Fatman
Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine (frequently shortened to 'Carter USM') were formed in 1987 by singer Jim "Jim Bob" Morrison and guitarist Les "Fruitbat" Carter. Playing along to tapes, samples, sequenced basses and drum machines as well as rock 'n' roll guitars they would be referred to as 'The Punk Pet Shop Boys', and travelled around Europe in a small hire car playing for petrol money on the pub and club circuit, where they built up a small but loyal following.
In 2001 and 2002, ex-Carter members Jim Bob and Fruitbat toured as Who's The Daddy Now?. The pair's two bands Jim's Super Stereoworld and Abdoujaparov would play a set each, and then the pair would combine at the end of the show to perform a number of Carter USM songs. Who's The Daddy Now? is the closest there has been to a Carter USM regrouping after their split in 1997.
Breed 77 - Blind
In 1998, Kerrang! readers voted Breed 77 the 'Best Unsigned Band'. In 1999, they won both the Metal Hammer and Kerrang! awards for the best new band. Then in 2001 they signed a five album deal with Albert Productions the legendary Australian publisher of AC/DC.

Lene Lovich - My Lucky Number
Lovich was born in Detroit, Michigan to a British mother and a Serbian father, but after her father became mentally unstable her mother took her and her three siblings to live in Hull, England. Lovich met the guitarist/songwriter Les Chappell, who became her longtime collaborator, when they were teenagers. In the Autumn of 1968, they went to London, England to attend art school. It was there that Lovich first tied her hair into the plaits that later became a visual trademark, though at first she did it to keep her hair out of the clay when studying sculpture.
